Some AWI action at club night

We had eight guys out at the club last night and a rare soccer bye meant I could attend! There was a game of Armies of Arcana (kind of Warhammer-lite) and a three-player game of Warmachine.

Bruce and I played the Germantown scenario for Clash for a Continent. The British are in the foreground and the building in the middle of the board is Chew House (which the historical battle hinged on).

We managed to play twice and both games were done by turn 15. The games split, although I think this is a tougher game for the British player (perhaps reflecting the quasi-surprise Washington had). That said, if the British can avoid losing too many units, over time they should be able to push the Americans back.

I wonder if the British strategy is to abandon Chew House and spend time pulling together a line and then advancing on the Americans who will be split up.

Up next: Not sure what is next. Soccer, the garden and cycling are cutting into my painting time. I hope to get a game in with Bruce next week.

EDBAG battle for the mountains

Last night was the fourth night of the EDBAG HoTT campaign and there were six guys out. The goal of the campaign is to get four mountain spaces on the Board and Dave was close at the beginning of the night (holding three). That made him the target.

First game saw the dwarves come to the aid of the misunderstood imperials who (quite innocently) wandered into the realm of the ice queen. This game was going badly for the ice queen (think "swearing and thrown dice" bad) until she managed to ensorcel both Darth Vader and the Emperor and thus pushed back the invasion.

Over on the other table, Dennis and Scott squared off with Bruce supporting Scott. Dennis managed to bag Scott's stronghold with a sneaker and win his second mountain. These two forces would face off again in the second game with a general kill win for Dennis, thereby taking one of Scott's home territories. Dennis was unstoppable!

The imperials dusted themselves off for a second go at the ice queen, this time with the help of Bruce's imperial Romans (us emperors got to stick together). This went better for Dave despite some gamey terrain play using lurking probe droids. Dave's dice came around in this game, though!

As Dave advanced into heavy blaster fire, the Emperor and Darth Vader made an end-run to bag the ice queen's stronghold. We had then a long period of back and forth as the stronghold held out against sabre thrusts (for five or six turns--how many sixes are on that die!) and the stormtroopers (rather luckily) pushed back the icemen. Eventually Dave's luck ran out and the stronghold fell just before the stormtroopers crushed his army. The imperials scored their first mountain square.

Up next: Some 25mm terrain and then some 15mm cavalry.

28mm High Elf HoTT army for sale--SOLD!

I have for sale a 28mm High Elf Hordes of the Things (HoTT) army. It comprises 15 bases with 36 figures and totals 35AP. All of the figures are plastic and GW (a few exceptions noted). All bases are 60mm frontages.

The majority of the army is shooters, with six bases.

There are also three bases of spear, including an optional spear general (the fellow with the sword is metal GW).

There are two bases of riders and the fellow with the pennant could be a rider general.

There is a flyer and a dragon. Both are plastic but non-GW (Heroscape or Mageknight, I think).

There is also a magician (plastic Heroscape or Mageknight) and an artillery piece (metal GW with a plastic bowman added).

I'd like $100 for the army. Shipping will be $20 in Canada or the US; more overseas. Payment by paypal, I will insure it, etc.
