15mm Trolls

This week, I knocked off some 15mm trolls. These are figures from the LotR Risk game and, for the pennes they cost, are a great deal.

There were nine in the bag I opened and I went went with a blue colour scheme. For plastic game pieces, I think they have a lot of character and detail.

Size-wise, they also fit with the Battlelore trolls I have.

And they are a good match for the Battlelore figures that make up most off my 15mm medieval/fantasy armies.

Up next: some 15mm cavalry.

More 15mm Elven archers

Another big batch of 15mm archers is finally dry. These are again LotR Risk figures intended to form the core of an Eleven army.

I painted these in a more of a High Elf style, thinking that they would represent massed archers.

Overall, they fit in alright with the Battlelore figures I have and I think I fixed the overly minty highlights on the bases.

They also fit in with the 15mm metals that I have from Splintered Light Miniatures. The rest of the figures for the army will be coming from there so that's good!

 Up next: More 15mm plastics.

Terrain and random figures

A mixed set of figures this week. First up are some more stairs for the Mageknight Dungeon tiles.

The shallower stairs are playable and the steeper stairs are not. I also finished off three random figures: A guy in a trench coat (nefarious union organizer?), Lucifer for BSG, and some dude with a sword (likely an old heroclix).

I also painted up one of the buildings I got at a model railway swap meet. A bit of highlighting and varying the brick tones, and a wash were all that were needed.

Up next: More 15m archers.

15mm Eleven Archers

I've been thinking about expanding some 15mm fantasy/medieval armies that I have.  Most of my figures are from the old Battlelore game, which includes humans, dwarves, and goblins. I was thinking about adding elves. There are truly lovely metal elves about, but I notices that the LotR Risk game from a few years ago has some pretty good 15/18mm figures so I bought up a bag of pieces on fleabay.

There are more than 100 in the game so I painted up 30 in a foresty theme. These could be light archers, skirmishers, or rangers. For cheap, mass-produced plastics, these are pretty nice. I have another 30 underway in a more High Elf colour scheme.

Below, I've compared them to the Battlelore archer (left) and the Battlelore Westeros archer (right). Not a bad match. I see the drybrush on the elf base is a bit too sage and could use some yellow.

Below are the LotR compared to some (I think) Splintered Light heroes and magic users. Again, pretty close in stature and hardly noticeable in play. I had thought to source additional troop types from Splintered Light, once I get these fellows painted up. They have some lovely elven cavalry riding moose (or perhaps elk).

Up next: Some HO-scale Gotham buildings, some 15mm elves, some 28mm dungeon tiles, and some 15mm foes and creatures.
