II/73 Old Saxons, 250-804 AD
III/24 Middle Saxons, 617-1014 AD
This army is built using mostly a box of 28mm plastic Wargames Factory Thegns leavened with a few metal Old Glory figures (who may be Vikings!). The core of the army are 11 bases of 4Wb or 4Sp. Given the preponderance of chain mail, these seem more late Saxon than early.
There are also two bases of 7Hd (that is a lot of painting!). Again a mixture of Wargames Factory "dark ages warriors" with no mail and a few Old Glory.
There is one base of 2 Ps to add a bit of rough going and anti-horse power to the poor, hapless Saxons.
Finally, there is a base of 3Cv. These are 28mm plastic Conquest Games Normans that I converted to Saxons by choosing lightly armoured bodies with round shields and adding Saxons heads.
While not the most exciting army to play, they do pose some interesting challenges. Like how not to get run down by the Normans or ground to pieces by the vikings.
These fellow still need a camp (and there are plenty of bodies left to populate it). I'm thinking something with cattle.
